The number of points earned per slot decreases as the rings move away from the center.

Olympic Archery History

Olympic Archery holds age-old history with Queenie Newall became the first women archer to win the medal at the 1908 London Olympic Games at the age of 53. Archery event was first introduced at the 1900 Olympic games and then appeared in 1904, 1908, and 1920 events. However, the sports underwent a 52-year hiatus from the Olympic games and later on once again got introduced at the 1972 Olympic games with men and women individual events.

In Olympic history, Hubert van Innis from Belgium is the only archer to win six gold medals and three silvers in a single event. Also South Korean archer Kim Soo-Nyung clinched four Olympic titles, one silver, and one bronze medal in 1988, 1992, and 2000 games.

Since 1984, South Korea is the only nation to outperform the event with 23 out of 34 gold medals.

Top Olympic Archers at Tokyo 2021

All eyes will be on South Korean top-performing archers Ku Bon Chan and Chang Hye-Jin who have won individual titles. Also, Brady Ellison, a three-time Olympic gold medallist from the USA is waiting to clinch his first gold at the Tokyo 2021 games. He would have to face stiff competition from Kim Woojin (South Korea), Mauro Nespoli (Italy), and Ruman Shana (Bangladesh).
In the Women’s category, Lei Chien-Ying (Chinese Taipei) won two world titles in 2019. She will be facing South Korea’s Kang Chae-young, Deepika Kumari from India, and Lisa Unruh from Germany.
