Olympic Fencing Competition Format at Tokyo 2021

It is for the first time, all the twelve events on the fencing program will be contested. There will be six events in each men’s and women’s category divided into team and individual competition as well as the three weapons used: epee, sabre, and foil. There is a single-elimination tournament format in the individual competition. There are three members (and one reserve member) in Team events competing in a round-robin format, with each athlete on each team fencing one another one at a time.
