How Does it Work?
Men Gymnasts compete on six apparatus – vault, floor, horizontal bar, parallel bars, pommel horse, or rings. Women Gymnasts have to perform artistic gymnastics on four apparatus – floor, vault, uneven bars, and balance beam.
The top two performing athletes from each country march towards the individual final round. At the final round, Gymnasts are awarded in the all-round event as well as for each individual apparatus.
Olympic Artistic Gymnastics Competition Format at Tokyo 2021
Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games will have a total of 98 Men and 98 Women artistic Gymnastics. To qualify for the Olympic games, the athletes have to first win individual medals at the 2019 Worlds and also the all-around World Cup series, and the continental championships. Total eight nations qualify into the final round at the Olympic Games. Total 24 individuals compete into the final round and the eight athletes on each apparatus battle at the podium level in the finals.
The all-round medals are designated based on an individual gymnasts score on each apparatus score. The final results are counted based on eight results of the eight routines performed on the day.

Kaya Kazuma from Japan is also known as the strongest athlete to participate at the home ground. He is the winner of the – Japan championships. Kitazono is another star performer from Japan who has won five gold medals at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires.
