Olympic Judo History

Judo was first introduced as a sport for men in the Tokyo 1964 Olympic Games. It missed the 1968 Olympic Games but once again was introduced in the Olympic program without interruption.

Japan won the most medals (84, 39 golds) ahead of France (49, 14) and South Korea (43, 11)
There are four to eight weight categories with currently seven each for men and women. For the first time, Female Judokas were awarded medals at the 1992 Barcelona Games.
