This sport appeared in the USA. This game was thought up by an educator of physical breeding in a pedagogical college. In order to diversify the life of students in the sports hall for playing basketball, the teacher divided the playing field with a net, which was suspended at a level of 2 meters. Each team initially had 5 players.
Since the ball for this sport did not yet exist, it was proposed to play with the camera from a basketball, because this discipline itself was too hard for this kind of sport. The sense of this sport was easy: each of the teams had to prevent the ball from touching the floor on the territory of its playing field. Thus, the ball must be constantly in the air, and the players must make sure that the ball falls on the opponent’s field. The date of foundation of this discipline is considered to be 1895.
The importance of volleyball in the Olympics
All this time the rules and technique of the game have changed and improved. However, the main part of the rules of this discipline has survived to this day. It took exactly a year to approve the rules after the appearance of this sport. However, the first parameters of the ball were adopted only after 2 years. In contemporary times, the game quickly found its audience in Canada and Asia, and also quickly reached Europe.
In these countries, beach volleyball has become particularly famous as a great entertainment and leisure activity during the rest. In 1922, volleyball fans were already in every corner of the Earth. And already in 1949, the first men’s volleyball competition happened. The discipline was so famous that this kind of sport was suggested to be introduced in the list of the Olympic Games. The first tourney of this sport at the world sports festival was held in Tokyo in 1964. Until that time, an international association had already been created on the planet, which involved more than a hundred powers of the planet and every year their number developed.
Game in the modern world
In 1990, more and more countries were involved in the roster of the strongest teams. The leading in this sport were heat countries, where fans of playing beach of this sport turned into professional athletes. Brazil, USA, Cuba, Italy were one of such countries. In 2006, the Global Volleyball Federation included more than a couple hundred countries of the world, making this sport one of the most demanded in the world.
